  I'm still not totally happy about all this and won't be until I've got a V5C with the right VIN on it, but I've just been chatting to a Policeman on another forum and this is what he had to say

It sounds like it's all going to be fine.

I won't go into all the ins and outs of vehicle theft and cloning but I'm not concerned by what you've found already.

  I'm still none the wiser  if it had been 1 number out they would have just changed it but as it was 2 they've got to inspect it  I've got it booked for next Wednesday....

Im sure it'll turn out ok. Its a real pain in the arse waitin around for stuf like this, nothin you can do until some lazy fcuk who really doesnt care about your situation can be arsed to do it. Hopefully its all sorted before your next MOT.

Well I went for the MOT today, they couldn't even test it

Not exactly the same, but when I took my camper for it's MOT the chassis number didn't bring up the correct vehicle info, next I hear the boss man saying that they had to report it to the CID as it may be a ringer etc etc, I'm frantically ringing around and Vaughn offers to store it in Leicester until we can sort it out. Then this other mechanic comes out a bit later, says "Your MOT's over there" I told him what his boss said and he just laughed and walked off, the b'stards were having me on. Thing is, it was feasible that it could have been a ringer as the guy who restored it restored it from a bare shell and got parts from it here and there as it's not original. Everything was ok by the way.

  That wasn't so bad, they'll be sending me my correct V5C soon 

I'm going to write to them asking for compensation for the £75 it cost me to trasport it over there, but right now I'm just pleased its all sorted

I'm off to tinker, I lost motivation when all this cr@p started but now its full steam ahead and I've got the day off
