stretched tyres
« on: 20 November 2006, 22:56 »
Would 195/45/15 tyres fit on an 8 inch rim? i seem to be having trouble around my area getting garages to do this for me.When i ask they say its not within the tyres spec and that it would be a safety issue. Is this true? I went in to a local tyre exhaust garage local to me today and asked how much it would cost me for 4 toyo proxes t1-s? They hadn't even heard of them   This what i'm up against in this backward part of wales.

Yes they would fit but they would be stretched to do it and a lot of 'normal' garages may not want to fit them. Safety issue - well it's to look gangsta innit

Could get the tyres you want delivered instead but you will still have the fitment problem  :undecided:

yeah they'll fit and wont even bee too stretched. i've got 195/50/15 on an 8.5" wheel. they are kinda right about what they are saying about it being a safety issue as well. but that also wont be a serious stretch so shouldn't be dangerous.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

i can't see there being a problem with stretching toyo's on ra's.pm ...joe as he's quite up to speed on these sort of things.

Stunning wheels matey

Would have to go for some very narrow tyres to get much stretch going on with a 6" width wheel. StyleDynamix could sort it out I am sure - would need 175's or something

I'm no BBS geek that's for sure, but those wheels look absolutely sweet as !

My TH Mono's for my Rallye have got 195/40/16s on and I've seen them more stretched that's for sure.

Who sells four tyres fitted and balanced for £164 ! That's £41 a wheel. Bargain. :afro:
......now officially dubless.

Fap me that is cheap, I got my F1's for £40 a corner and fitted them myself. Next time I'm off to eyeletboys local!!

For stretching on RA's you might want to try 165/50's as they could give you a nice stretch

yeah they'll fit and wont even bee too stretched. i've got 195/50/15 on an 8.5" wheel. they are kinda right about what they are saying about it being a safety issue as well.

Recently I've fitted a couple of sets of 195/50's to 8" & 8.25" rims, and personally there is too much sidewall to achieve the stretch. My old RM's were 8.25 and the 45 profile looked aesthetically better, as there was more of a stretch with the smaller side wall.

Yeah, 195/45,  looks nice. I had these on G60. only prob. is the part lip of the wall that sits tight to the edge of the rim looks lifted off the rim a bit (if you see what I mean!)

damn wheels are in pitch black garage, so no photos.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.
