Mk3 Front Grill
« on: 16 November 2006, 08:56 »
Hi guys, my son has a 97 mk3 GL 100bhp & just lost his rad grill thanks to an inconsiderate pheasant

Anyway, he wants to replace it with an aftermarket black plastic badgeless type. Can any one recommend a good quality one which fits properly and where is the best place to get one? I've looked on ebay but just don't know if the stuff on there is any good. :undecided:

Thanks in anticipation.  J

Many people do these kind of grilles and there are different types.
You can get a slatted grille like standard without the badge and others that have mesh centre sections.
Best if your son searches the 'net to find what he likes.

Hope you ate the pheasant!

Hi Jezza,

Remember to take into consideration the cost of a spray/colour coding them too, as they come in plastic/primed and won't look great. I got a single piece plastic type which is fine, fitment is okay but feels a little flimsy compared to the 2-part metal plastic genuine one. You can get a 2-piece de-badged grill which I think would be more sturdy.

Although I could argue that I'm saving weight with my plastic debadged 2-slat jobbie.
