Hi there

I have just purchased a golf which has a thatcham one alarm and immobiliser fitted, however, the previous owner lost the certicate.  At present I don't know what alarm it but i'm sure i'll be able to find out.  Has anyone been in a similar situation or does anyone know whether I can get hold of a certificate somehow to prove to the insurance company that I have a thatcham one fitted?

Many thanks
James

You would need to go back to the place who fitted the alarm, and if they still have paperwork then they will reissue for a small charge lol!!!!

I was in the same boat with a car i bought, you can take it to any qualified alarm place and they can inspect the installation and issue you with a new certificate for a charge.

I've got this problem as well. What you think the chances of secure-a-car fitting an alarm/immob to a car purchased from Surrey?

Any qualified VSIB fitter should be able to inspect and issue a ceritifcate for £25

I emailed Thatcham about this a while back and this was the response.

Hi,  you will need to get your alarm identified etc. to find your nearest VSIB installer  look at their website  www.vsib.co.uk.    They can then issue another certificate.
