Steering Dead Spot ?

Was out last night and did some A road driving on the way back home.  :smiley: Noticed that when driving on a long straight stretch of dual carriageway there appears to be a steering dead spot in the 12 o'clock position, allowing a very slight movement of the wheel (left and right) with no apparent steering control.  :angry: Very slight, no more than a few degrees of movement, but I have never noticed this before.  :shocked: There is no such problem at slower speeds or when driving in an urban environment. Car is less than 2 months old with just under 1000 on the clock. Anyone else noticed this or aware of such a problem ?

its steering cass, get it checked!!, mine shows no sign of those symtoms

Mine was like this after I had the creaky rack replaced.

One Laser wheel allignment check later at Micheldever Tyres and all was ok again.  :wink:

If it is tracking that's needed, after 1000 miles, I'd be up for an argument with the dealer for some complimentary work to be done...

It's not the tracking, the car drives true since I got it and none of the wheels have been kerbed. It feels like there is some free play in the actual steering in the straight ahead position. Only noticable at speed on straight roads. Not noticable in urban driving when pottering about. I'll get it checked by the dealer next week.
