hi there... there isn't much you can do really, without spending loads of cash to get it to the same levels as a 1.8T.. I presume you've brought the early model mk4 GTi 2litre without turbo, only 125bhp.. only called a GTI in UK, GL in rest of Europe, but you don't care about that. Any chance of you getting a refund?

FYI, Mk4 N/A 2.0 8v has 115 hp, whereas the N/A 1.8 (20v) has 125 hp!

If you've bought it from a trader, you should have X no. of days to return the car (sales of goods act etc.), but you're less protected if you bought it privately.  If it's not possible to send back, then I'd suggest selling up & buying the turbo, as like garfayliu says, it will cost a fortune to extract some decent power.  Remember you're starting from a low power output to begin with - eg. The Civic Type R & the new Clio Sport both have 197 hp allready!

You're right, my bad  Which one do you have wave? How much did you pay for it? As the others have said, you can sell on pretty easily and get another 20v Turbo model. Plenty more fish in the sea.. I mean GTIs.

i think its the 125bah model because i find it abut flat but my last car was 320SE BMW which had a straight 6 in it so maybe expecting too much i paid £3500 on a 1999 model so i didn't get a bad deal really like i sad before its a great car just a bit idle i will try post a picture. its like a Porsche with a lawn mower engine only kidding just its a bit of a let down    wave
