thanks very much for the offer but I'm in swindon and at the rate my car drinks petrol i think it would work out cheaper to go to the dealers  thanks anyways  :grin:

Depending on year draper do a fault code reader for about £20 ...they change in 94/95 would be worth checking ebay..

well i didn't get back in time to get to a dealers today maybe tomorrow. well out the £20 i put in on Saturday i got 101 miles 20.1mpg and average speed of 40

I have a similar problem with my mk2 and a friend with his rado would be interested to know what you find :)

Well i spoke to the mechanic and he said he would run it on his comp and charge me £35 to clear and read the codes  not bad i guess. He recons the problem I'm getting is from the throttle housing he said to clean the back end of the housing i only cleaned the bit i could see like in front of the butterfly think i might take it right off and give it a clean. But he also mentioned about resetting the (kams) or something to do with the idling speeds he think the idling speeds might be wrong. well i clean the throttle out on the weekend and if  get no luck its going to be sent of to get fixed cause its costing way to much thanks for the input anyways guys will let you know what happens
