hi shaun, there are plenty of exhausts, pick up a copy of PVW or Golf + and look at the ads, recommended brands for the mk3 are Milltek (quiet + quality), Jetex (decent), Scorpian (loud), many more. I wouldn't bother too much with a chip as it won't add much, maybe 3-5bhp, but it'll smooth out the power band. Cheap chips off eBay for £30-50 with standard performance maps, or a custom chip from someone like AMD, Revo, Custom Codes might do the mk3 ABF engine still.

thank's for that, i will look into the exhaust's. im just a bit confused about the chip's.  :undecided: i have been told that i could expect gains of upto 20 bhp which to me sound's like a reasonable gain for a 2 litre car

i have a jetex full stainless on my car which is exellent cost me £280 at edition 38 show
yes chipping the 16v engine with exhaust decat and filter (possible exhaust manifold but cant remember)will give you between 10-20bhp a friend of mine has had this done and he has a dyno proven 172 bhp 16v he used superchips for his convertion ,i would recommend useing a reputable company for the chip as there are cowboys out there that could knacker the engine up if not done right.
