vr6 tuning
« on: 08 November 2006, 13:17 »
Hi i posted this while ago but didn't get much response - i am thinking of getting a vr6 and wondered about the tunability of them.

What stages of power and torque and at what prices. Basically what works and what doesn't and costs?

Cheers

when i got mine it had a k&n induction kit, superchipped and a full magnex, and was set up by well lane turbo centre with a read out of 189.9bhp! all that cost the previous owner around £1k! i know it sounds alot but i reckon u could shop around and pay alot less for the parts i think he paid thru the nose to be honest! just decatted mine so its running close to the 200bhp mark now,it has had new coil, plugs and leads, new maf and some other bits done since i got her and is now running perfect! if you want to go the whole hog a company called awp can do pretty much anything to an engine, only limitation is how deep your pockets are! turbo's and superchargers arent out of the question but would cost alot, hence why i havent got 1 yet!!!! hope this in some way helps!

Yeah cheers dude.

What sort of 0-60 time are you getting?

Was thinking of superchargers - who does a good kit?

vortech do the kit i think?as for 0-60 i reckon its probably late 5secs,under 6 but not far off,but thats with dry road! thats a guestimate tho,my impreza was low 5s and i think my vr wouldve kept up! just dont want people saying "nah not with them mods" and all the rest of it! she goes and goes well!
