vibration / pulsing at idle
« on: 06 November 2006, 15:21 »
Hey guys and girls

hope you can help me.

got a TDI 130 and every now and again after starting the car from cold, if i'm sat in traffic the engine will 'pulse' and cause the car to virbrate.  doesn't happen all the time so I'm thinking it could be a worn engine mount  :undecided: or maybe a faulty sensor  :undecided: :undecided:

not much of an idea on this one so new ideas are welcome lol

Hey rhyso

I have  gt tdi 130bhp 2002 and when i first got the car this year it done a simliar thing but this was everytime from cold, as i work at a vw/audi dealer i got it checked out and it needed a updated ecu the new ecu had updated software in it, so i took extended warranty and got a few other bits done, it did cure the problem, i would get it checked out at a dealer or someone who has a computer and can read fault codes, there is something out via vw on ther elsa machine which says when you put your foot down on the clutch the noise/vibration goes try that and if it goes then it could well be the engine ecu i am afraid

hey mate

thanks for the reply

I've got VAG COM so I'll run a fault scan on it.  did it recently though and I didn't get any codes flagged up  :undecided:

How much did the updated ECU cost?  Wonder if i can blag a reload of the ECU................

Apart from this intermittement problem it runs like a dream; put out 140 on the rollers last week  :smug:

hi the dam ecu cost over £700 pounds but as i took extended warranty out all was ok, but if i was a normal customer i would have rang vw up and had a moan, it may not be an ecu it may be worth putting a temp sensor on it, it may be as simple as that.

ouch  £700

Best hope it's not that then lol  I'm due a service soon but they want to charge £160 to change the oil and inspect the car!!

It's annoying in that it doesn't happen all the time.

Thanks for your help; I'll try dipping the clutch
