thee is a code somewhere which tells you but i'll be buggered if i can remember! most were made in wolfsburg though, i think its something to do with the VIN which says where they were made. alot were made in mexico as well.

ah let me try and explain  :nerd:

It tells you in the chassis number.

For example i shall use a Mk 4 Golf chasis number.

wvwzzz1jz3w......

wvw (states that its a Volkswagen)

zzz (this is where the emissions code would be on American cars)

1jz (states it's a Mk 4 Golf)

3 (Year of production 2003)

w (Where it was made, in this case Wolfsburg)

Cars prior to 2001 will have a letter instead of a number stating the year.

Hope this makes sense

cr-v's were made in swindon for about 3 months, but they kept on fluffing them up, creating loads of warranty work, so the japs took control of it.

92-95 civic coupes were made in america, so were accord coupes of the same era.

but imho the car makers at swindon, should be lined up and shot, and the factory closed down lol

they couldnt construct lego, let alone a car.

the jap built ones, are the cars of choice.

there seems to be a misconception that some VW factories are better than others - do not fall for it.

name escapes me, but one of them was a dreadful factory with huge problems, appalling build quality, and its the one everyone is proud of. its actually the one you don't want your car made at, and its certainly not the factory you want to brag "my car was built at X".

be warned.

in some cases, its best not to know where it was built.
