mk1 16v distributer cap, what can i use
« on: 01 November 2006, 17:47 »
I have a mk1 with 16v kr engine, clearance between the brake master cylinder and the distributer is quite tight. Not planning on moving the servo at the moment, maybe in the future i could move it over to the drivers side but for now i was hoping i could find a side exiting distributer cap.

I've heard that a peugeot 205 gti distributer cap can be used. Does anyone know if this is true and if its just a straight swap. I assume you have to get the matching rotor arm, will this fit straight onto the shaft?

Wouldnt mind knowing what others have done to get around this?

Cheers,
Manchester.

Ok found this:

Looks like much better clearance, using the ABF engine cap.

Are you using the Mk1 servo/master cylinder or have you changed to the 16v unit

16v servo + master cylinder. Picked up an ABF cap tonight, will see how it looks this weekend.

Cool, it would be much harder to get the clearance with the mk1 bits.

I blanked off the hole nearest the cap on my master cylinder and used a T-Piece on another hole, its given me loads of clearance with the standard 16v cap
