I parked my Diamond black GTI under a tree and it looks like it has buggered the paint up.  I washed it off after a day, but it has left little circles on the paint.  maybe its eaten through the lacquer?  I think they are lime trees in my area and on the Mk4 it used to just wash off, this looks permanent!  Arrrgghhhhh....

any ideas?

Polish it! If that gets it out, get a good layer of wax on it and stop parking under the trees.

I usually avoid trees like the plague!

It was waxed when I brought it (sept 06) and its only been washed twice since!

Would be surprised if polish doesn't fix it. But it will remove some of the wax too so re wax.

Turtle Wax, Bug and Tar remover (available from Halfords) worked for me (also D Blk Met paint).

Wash the car thoroughly with plenty of water and a good quality car shampoo, then use a clay bar such as the Meguiars Quick Clay Detailing System. It comes with the clay and a spray bottle of lubricating fluid. Simple to use and very effective in removing tree sap, overspray and industrial fallout crap. Be gentle with it, folding the dirty side in regularly and keep the clay well lubricated. Use little pressure and work in small areas across the car. The clay will lift off all the surface contaminants from the paint and leave it very smooth. Then clean, polish and wax the car immediately to ensure it is protected for the winter and DON'T park under trees again !
