1990 8v buying guide wanted
« on: 26 October 2006, 21:43 »
Used to own a 1990 black 3 door 8v gti a few years ago. It's the best car I've ever owned and I had it for around 5 years.

I've seen one for sale that is exactly the same as my old one. It was registered in Dec 89 and has the big bumpers(original fit). Its done around 97K miles with fsh (not all vw)and had only two owners. The guy wants £1350. I know from experience about the head gasket/rear calipers and ISV.

Is there anything else I should check for and where are the factory stickers on the bodywork to check for replacement panels?

Any advice appreciated, cheers

Thanks for the link mate! Much appreciated. If the car is ok, does the asking price of £1350 seem fair?

Price seems good.

Check She doesn't burn any oil.

and check the body work / shell over carefully, plus gearbox.

Most other things can be fixed reasonable cheaply / easily
