So p!ssed off

ok, as many of you know, I had my engine rebuilt over the summer. Since getting it back my local vw specialist garage (that I have now started taking my car to) have found a few dodgy bodge up jobs under the bonnet. The thing I am really p!ssed off about (apart from that) is that I STILL dont have my invoice. I paid £1500 CASH for this job. The least they can do is send me a f*cking invoice! I mean come on, its not rocket science. But it seems it is to these dumb f*ckers! They also promised me a CD of photos I asked them to take, which guess what - still hasn't materialised either!   I have rung the guy every thursday night for the past three weeks asking him for it. Plus phoned him three weeks after I got the car back which was months ago now - then his excuse was that his PC was broken. Anyway now it seems he doesn't have an excuse. The last three weeks he has said "hya love , yeah I've got your invoice - just havent posted it yet" when I've said can you post it asap please as I'm thinking about selling the car, he just says "yeah will do". i'm sick of this.

Anyway just wondered what people think I should do. how do I stand legally? Anyone know?

Got to be worth a trip to Citizen's Advice for some free help on what your options are to start with.

Have you got anything at all to prove you paid them?

He gave me a handwritten receipt for both jobs (as they replaced my clutch as a separate job or should I say bodged as they used the wrong length cable so routed it over the top of the engine rather than round it!) on the receipt he wrote something like .. dial-a-tech, dalby, then his mobile number, then the amout he received, then signed it.

Well there is proof at least of payment for some sort of work done. Think you need real advice to go from here.... well other than the obvious violence route someone will suggest

It doesn't sound like he'll have put it through his books either Gem.

He's fobbing you Gem, you need to take it further and CA is as good as any place to start.

He deffinately hasn't put it through his books as when I had my clutch done I saif I would have to pay by cheque and he said 'well in that case it will be more expensive as we paid cash for the parts' er how exactly? t0sser. DIAL-A-TECH In Doncaster

CA is by far the best place to go concerning advice from a legal point of view, and if they cannot help then they will be able to direct you to someone that can. It might also be worth seeing if you can get a free legal consort with a solicitor. If they haven't put it through the books then surely they are falling foul of trading standards? Could be worth contacting them aswell.

and it mite be worth actually mentionin it to the company that your gonna take action, may make them pull their fingers outta their bottoms if they think they'll get done..

Yeah try CA they will give ya  the help you need , or ya could find his house n burn it down
