How do you know its on the way out? what lifespan do they last? Mileage?

im no expert, but i had someone else listen and he said it could last for miles still,

your right it could go for ages makeing a noise. Butr Id rather get it fixed and rid of the niose as I hate things makeing a noise that shouldnt!!

Just finished doing mine, pretty easy job (2 hours ish)

Its as quiet as a mouse now, quite surprized!!

The water pump for the mk3 golf is £21 plus vat from gsf.....
i got mine done last week along with my timing belt....

New water pump,
Timing belt kit
new alternator belt
throttle body cleaned
coolant

parts and labour came to £183,,,,, not bad..... vw wanted £300  :sick:


this was in newcastle by a local vw specialist... Barry Swift... he's in the yellowpages if anybody wants to use him,,, i highly recommend him...
