ambient temperature sensor pls help........

just had my bumper re sprayed due to excessive chips, garage claim they took bumper off and did it, howevr the external temperture does not work now, it comes up as either -45 degrees on the motorway or --.

does anyoen know what could of happened please,

I believe the amb temp sensor is mounted on the bumper, perhaps they just forgot to reconnect it?  Sorry cant tell you exactly where it is - no doubt someone will help soon.  Have a look and see if you can see a wire hanging down somewhere?

If i remember correctly its behind the left hand side lower grill.

is that the most likely case scenario i mean do u have to disconnect it to take the bumber off also, yes ure right its in the left lover grill as lyou look front on to the car.

Yeah you would have to disconnect it to get the bumper any significant distance from the car.  Worth a bit of jiggling to see if they just didn't connect it properly.  If they damaged it in some way then i believe its a very cheap part (changed one once on ahem a vectra - sensor cost about £5 and pi$$ easy to change - just clips in ).  Of course you could go after them to sort it but prob more hassle than its worth.
