Does more = Less??
« on: 22 October 2006, 03:11 »
I had a 170 gt tdi for the day, and although its a faster car than my present 140 tdi, i couldn't get to grips with what vw have done..

Removed the 2zone climate control...£695.00!! ( which was standard on my 140)

Made the front head rests non adjustable, (why the hell would they do that)??

Oh, And check out the inside out stitching they have done on the new rear head rests!! no where near as good as the old one's, with stitching showing on the outside ( irrelevant i know but cheaply made)

And i was actually considering ordering a new gt 170 tdi... i think ill stick with my 140 tdi, and if i need to up the power ill get it chipped.

I don't see why i should have to pay extra for climate when it was standard on my golf, and charge £700 smackers!!........Umm i don't think so.

That's a poor show, but they say the MK5 costs to much to make and the profit margin is to low so it's no shock that they will try to save and make where they can!

BMW have done the same with the new Mini, each one built now costs 1K euros less than the last...  it's a sign of the times unfortunetly.

Better off just staying where you are

VW dropped the price of the golfs by £700 around 1 year ago (please correct me if I'm wrong abou the time) and lost climate on most models at the same time!

Cheeky if you ask me

Regardless of what VW have done, dropping the price, then removing certain items, and then dropping the quality down even further does not get my vote. It's bad enough having half of the inside of the car made out of hard plastic.  Sorry guy's but i just can't justify paying anything over  £20,000 for a car that's supposed to be a premium product.

I'll tell you something else for nothing.

It only costs £395 on the EOS for the climate over £695 on the Golf - How do they get that?

All extra's should be uniformed across the range - including vans!

i disagree with that.

if i was in a showroom about to spend 60k on a phaeton (thats big money), id get very annoyed if they started charging me the same money as a fox for extras.

when your spending 60k on a car, u should be given better access to the options than someone whose only spending 6k on a fox.

I really don't mean to offend... but, who with a full set of marbles would spend anything near £60k for a phaeton!! (especially new??) and then feel like this after a year

Don’t get me started on the price of climate. I was looking on the german vw site and they only pay 300 euros, that’s 200 quid. How can they charge us £700???????.

IÂ’ve been putting off buying a gt cos I feel IÂ’m getting ripped off. And not prepared to wait 3 months.
