Calling all anoraks... Calling all anoraks!
« on: 17 October 2006, 18:03 »
Good afternoon Guys,

Need some questions answering:

I've heard through a mate that Oak Green is rare for a Mk2 Gti.. Is it true?

Also... Are rainbow interiors rare too?

I reckon he is spinning me a line.....

Cheers

If it's an e reg 8v in oak green with rainbow interior and small bumpers it would be a campaign. Worth about £3000 if in good condition.

Ps. I have just bought one from the other side of the country after searching for just over a year for one as my last one got written off by a nice old man who didn't know what his steering wheel and brakes were for, resulting in the back of my car being about 2 foot shorter than standard.
Sorry about the name!!!!     Best of both worlds.....
Oak Green MK2 Golf Gti (Campaign)
Black 205 1.6 Gti (soon to be Mi16)
Red 1.4 Vauxhall Astra Estate (Work Car)

rainbow interiors are not rare in any sense, oak green aren't rare but are desirable. at one point they were fetching silly money but not any more. really nice though!

Insurance company gave me £2500 for mine last christmas and it was completely standard.

They said had it been an ordinary golf (not campaign) i would have got about £800

Why sound so shocked?

I said it's what they are worth but that doesn't mean anything really. Something is only worth what somebody will pay.

True, but it's nice to know that it's something special.
I bought her for £1200 Last year with full history etc. I wanted a run around after my gal wrote off my mint BMW 528 (shark nose one).
I fell in love with it after driving 3 or 4 16 valvers, liking the torque of the 8 valve.

liking the torque of the 8v...all the 16v's you drove then must have been scrappers
