I don't think there was ever a guide, but if you have a digi mk2 it will go straight on no mods required. Use the existing dizzy if its a 2e block, if its an ady block you'll need a 2e dizzy.
You can use all the brackets & anxileries from the 2.0 lump if you like, or you can swap on all the MK2 gear from your old lump. If you go with the MK3 bits you'll need to fit a MK3 GTI 8v water flange to the front of your old head, added bonus is it has sparky wire clips to help neaten things up. Only issue is that it has the small header tank feed pipe on it, simply run the old pipe here and block off the one on the rad by chopping a short length of hose & threading a bolt in, secured with a jubilee clip.
With the clutch you'll need one that matches your gearbox, if you want to re-use your old 8v box use your old flywheel and a new clutch kit.
Finally you have to think about the breather on the front of the block, either plumb it in with the MK3 rocker cover (not as easy as you might think!) or block it off somehow. I chose the first option but its a bit of a fiddle due to the location of all the breather piping. To clean it up I plan to swap the ISV and Breather pipes round!
