My Golf at last...
« on: 16 October 2006, 13:14 »
Finally picked the Golf up this week...

I've got plenty of plans for it but I'll post them all up later as I'll no doubt need advice on most of them lol

Well mine was a 51 plate 1.8T with 50k on the clock. The dealer wanted 8 G's for mine but he part-ex'd my car for £2.5k so I paid £5.5k... My gues at yours 6 grand?

I like those Rial alloys dude. Smart.

Late.

Nice Golf you have there. The standard alloys look good but your replacements will be even better - post another photo with the new wheels on.

You got a very good deal, 5 door turbo with recaros on a 1999 plate. I have not seen one of these on a T, quite rare I suspect and only 48k miles, marvelous.

Are the discs very corroded, if the car has been kept in the Thames Valley for 7 years, salt has been poured everywhere for 3 years now. Check front pads, these wear quite fast if yoou use the power.

If you plan to open her up on the older engine, check service records for water pump and camshaft  belt & tensioner replacement.  Those who drive hard - are strongly advised to do this before 50k miles. You have the ancient service book - advice in there should be treated with a pinch of salt.

I hope you look after her as well as the previous Owners !  This car you have looks pretty unmarked. Dump those tyres as well, (when you can afford it) they look like ditchers from the photo.

Good luck.
