Cheapo leads are a pain in the arse to remove, since they don't have the little lugs that the special tool clips onto - When I replaced all my plugs a few months back I discovered a previous owner had got el-cheapo replacements... I ended up pulling the crimp off the end of one lead because of it, so I got a replacement set.
I can't remember which lead it was I broke, I think it was either the far-left front or far-left rear, but I think there was enough slack in perhaps 3 of the leads to reach the cylinder you're talking about. I could send you my old leads if you like - I wasn't having misfiring problems, I was just replacing all the plugs as part of the first service I did on the beast. I think I've still got them in the shed somewhere.
You can have 'em for the price of postage, or come pick 'em up or something. I'm in Bath, down in the south-west. PM me if you like.
I do warn you that they are a pain in the arse to remove (although I think the one you're after is the easiest of the lot, tbh) The new ones I got are much better.
