Movement in the engine compartment
« on: 15 October 2006, 17:28 »
Well i travel about the near end of 300 miles each week in my little golf and this week i thought i'd check the oil and fluid levels. Checked and all are fine and dandy. When i bought the car a few months ago i replaced one of the metal tubes (like a spring sort of thing) and now that has split in 2 places which i thought to be odd. Got my hand on the engine and pushed and and found out it moves about 4-5mm, is this normal or do you think the rubber engine mounts may have perished??

4-5mm is fine.

Best check is to get a mate to just get the clutch to bite as you watch engine. If you engage then release with handbrake on it will rock the engine and you can see how much it moves.
