Vento 1.8 16v Any Good?
« on: 15 October 2006, 04:49 »
Recently sold my Mk2 8v  boy do i miss it but hey, anyway after looking around i have seen a 1994 L vento 1.8 16v for what i think is a reasonable price (£400) with 6 months MOT left on it.
What should i be looking for when i view it and what do people actually think of the Mk3 with a boot?
What MPG can be expected as i drive about 100 miles a day (the reason the Mk2 was sold)
Any advice would be nice. Will keep people informed of my decision

I Had a L reg 1.6 many years ago, it was a nice car good on fuel, but was slow and handled like a boat  would think a 1.8 would be quicker and the handling can be sorted

Hi   I didn't think VW did a 1.8 16v and on this year it should have a 1.8 abs engine which is good old fashioned 8valve with single point injection. They run about 90bhp and then the next one is a 2.0 with 115bhp, and regarding them being a booted golf. I wanted a vento and looked for ages for a 2.0gti or a vr6 and they are pretty rare but they do drive like the golf but with a large boot. Think of escort v orion or astra v belmont same basic car's but less popular.
