Just a foot note, someone was saying ref fuel econamy of the r32, is far less then the GTI, in town expect to get sub 20 miles to the gallon, if works out about 6 miles to the gallon in EACH situation of driving areas, sub 20 town, combined 29 etc, WILL VARY IF YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE BLA BLA BLA

Not a R32 but they share the same engine......

The misses figures........

A3 3.2 Q drive and DSG - average over 47K miles and 2 years = 25mpg.
best = 30.5mpg from a tank.
worst = 17mpg from a tank.

Golf Gti DSG - average over 7k miles and 5 months = 29mpg.
best =  35.5mpg from a tank.  my best is 33mpg.
worst = 20mpg from a tank.

He's correct, the Audi A3 3.2 has the engine and EDC16 ECU from the MK4 golf R32 - Slighlty tweaked since it was used in the R32 but not the same as the new R32, that uses a far more complex ECU and direct injection.

And because of this the fuel economy and power delivery will differ.  :wink:

You're great value for money and thanks for the BRAVE insults! I never knew they had the internet at the young offenders home?!?!   :kiss:

So let me get this right?!?!
The A3 engine has never been shared with a R32?
I never mentioned whether i was talking about MK4 or MK5 R32 did I?
Then Mr Doc, probably your brother says the A3 has a MK4 golf R32 ECU and engine?
Now there's a shock!

Wow you have a great attitude!  You've seven posts and not one of them says 'hello i'm golfr36ladyboy'?  So i can pressume you are either a troll for another user or a spoilt teenager bored of lax power forums?!?  I guess you're a troll for another user, you're attitude seems familiar to me and IP addressing very similar.

BOT!  I've found the GTi fuel economy to be increasing with mileage and also running on Vmax seems to help.........   :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

What's VMax?

Been up to Scotland from Manchester today in my manual GTI.  On the way up set the cruise control to 70mph (as per satnav, not speedo) and got 37.9mpg.  On the way back, did most of the trip with the cruise set slightly higher  :wink: apart from torrential rain in Lancashire and got 29.7mpg

37.9!!!!!!!!  quality work fella!  who needs a diesel?!?!?   :laugh:

Vmax is the new Shell super unleaded, the golf seems to perform really well with it.  it's worth a tank just to check......  Vmax should improve on your 37.9.......

just a note, but my 320D BMW only ever managed 36 in my hands and that was a diesel LOL  :shocked:

Do you not mean Shell VPower?  That's what I use.  And in my Audi A4 1.9TDI - same trip at 70 would get me 49mpg, or at a bit faster  :wink: 44mpg
