i thought it needed to be a 1.8 Driver for you to take the cam out of 8v GTi

you can also take the 8v GTi manifold and put it on a 1.8 Driver

Nope, the 8v gti cam will go in the 1.6.
The 1.6 and 1.8 are the same engine expect for crank and pistons. Thats why 1.6 engine blocks are actually stamped 1.8, cos they only made one block.

hey richy b i found some info on tuning 1.3's apparently you can fit polo gt pistons for a compression ratio of 11.5:1 with a 0.5mm re-bore, get a high lift/longer duration cam, gas flow the head and get a weber carb. use a pole g40 exhaust manifold and matching front pipe into an gti 8v system. the manifold is so you can fit a bigger bore exhaust but you will need to modify the hot air pick up for the carb or you we get probs in cold weather. this will also keep your engine looking standard' but should be good for upto 1oobhp

thanks veedub, im putting in an order for the weber when i get paid but at the moment its gonna cost around 230 plus vat any idea of anywhere i can get it cheaper???? oh and the thing about the exhaust..... half way down the system its been made bigger im not sure if this is because it got  gti size zorst at the end or wot, its got the big bumper kit some and ideas would be great.....is the only difference with the pipework the size of the pipe or wot??

again thanks :)

a bigger bore exhaust means the gases can flow out quicker really, not sure where you can get the weber cheaper try ringing around garages and spares places see what you can do, should make a good amount of difference tho and is a good starting point!
