The Whole Tax Disc/Insurance thing really pi55es me off. I guess the only historical reason for it was to encourage you to make sure to insure your car, so if plod saw a tax disc he knew at least
someone was insured on it. In this day and age though, where it's a quick computer check to see these things, I don't see how it's remotely relevant.
When I wanted to sell my Escort, the tax expired while I was still trying to get it MOT'd. Because it was parked on public roads (and because it's supposedly a lot of hassle to undo) I didn't want to SORN it, so I had to get it temporarily added to my insurance, at a cost of £70, just so I could get it taxed! I had no intention of driving it anywhere (I have a VR6... why would I want to put myself through driving a 1.3, J plate Escort again...

) A stupid, Stupid, archaic idiotic system.

Looks a nice motor there! At some point when I've paid off all my main debts I reckon I'll get myself a Mk2, just to see what all the fuss is about... I like the looks of a tastefully modded one.
