Leaking rear wash wip
« on: 07 January 2004, 11:55 »
Hi, I attempted the fix yesterday as shown by:

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/golfstuff/rear_screen_washer_repair.htm

however mine is not leaking from the black plastic connecter, it's leaking from where it connects to! How do I fix that? I disconnected the hose and checked it, it was fine, I reconnected it and held it down and tried and it started spraying out water from the connectot that is attached to the window (from the small black plastic bit at the bottom).

I'm gonna take it to VW, anyone know how much they charge?

Just been to VW, they want 215 squid to fix it!!!!!!!! >:( >:( >:(

New Motor is 70 and they rekon 1.5 hours labour!!

Does anyone know of an alternative fix? I rekon it's the water pipe INSIDE the motor that is cracked / leaking. The motor has 5 screws, I'm thinking of undoing them and having a gander...any risk in this? Anyone?

Cheers

I took the silver metal plate off yesterday (after finding a T10 star screwdriver bit) and there is a thin brass tube that goes from the connetor all the way throught the motor to the wiper...I took this out and it is ragged at the top like it's been twisted off more or less...also the washer nozzle moves with the wiper...this must have caused it. Gonna try to fix it.....will post some pics when I get round to doing it at the w/e.
