MK3 GTI 8v - No Spark!

Hi i have just change my engine ,actualy just the block and gearbox and leave me head .
i had "e engine and the block is from AGU (i think P reg).after connecting everything i try to start the car and  :cry: don`t want to start. i have found out i lost the spark from the coil.

is it possible the coil could broke if it was ok befour i remove the old engine?

olso the new block AGU  has a some connection which i don`t have in 2E block (as showe on the pic).
please let me know what is this connection for?and what could be a problem with my spark?

without knowing where or what the connector is ist hard to say what it does.

The coil failing is a very common prob on mk3 golf tho'.

thats what i don`t know as well.i didn`t have it on my ald engine.
can someoane with later mk3 model know what is it for?
it`s coming from behind oil filter, that`s all i know.
is thare any way to check the coil? or do i have to buy new one (second hand).

that cable is for the knock sensor, the new block should have one I think!  If not you'll have to swap the knock sensor on from your old engine.  Make sure its tightened to the correct torque though, too loose and it wont work and too tight and you'll break it!

Hi sorry for not replying for such a long time.
Right, sort out the problem.
I have change the coil and put old distributor (from previous engine) so one or the other or might be two of them which need to be change. Checked the timing marks and start the engine, but after a while one more problem, this time with water but I have made already another topic on this forum so I will let you know once I buy and change the expansion tank.
Many thanks to everybody for helping to sort out the problem with the spark.
