help please

going to sound daft but my crankshaft sensor needs replacing i took it to a friends garage and am having trouble finding it to replace it if anyone knows what im on about please feel free to give me sum sort of idea on exactly where i should start looking or if its cased within something

What engine have you got?? and also have you had a look in a haynes manual?? that should be able to guide you.
