Hi all,
I am a 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v owner from Madrid, Spain. I have owned this car for over a year now and I bought it reasonably cheap for €1600 (around 1000 pounds). The car has:
Power Steering
Air Conditioning
Electric Windows all around
5 Door body
No ABS
14" Cross Spoke VW wheels in Gold/Silver
It has been dubiously lowered at some point (prefer stock)
Dodgy Central Locking
The car is quite nice and clean, no rust obviously as our dry climate is quite good for keeping cars from the dreaded tin worm!
I have had several old VWs.. 1986 Polo 1.0CL, 1983 Jetta 1.5CL, 1989 Golf Cabrio (US Import) and now the 1991 Mk2 GTI.. and typically a radiator hose has just split!
I´m going to do some work on the car tomorrow - a split radiator hose from water pump to T-Piece that supplies external Oil filter holder, new sun shade holder clips (very difficult job), oil & filter change, airfilter change.
There is a problem.. or potential problem with the car which is that the radiator expansion tank is constantly full with a sludge that seems to be a culmination of oil and water " read mayonaisse ". I really hope the head gasket isn´t blowing!
