upgrading my front breaks?

Was looking at my front brake disks and pads the other day and iv got to say it looked like they would be on their way out sometime soon and it got me thinkin. (Dangerous that!) What can I uprate the front breaks with? Would i be able to get a g60 set up under there or maybe something for a tdi perhaps? whats involved and what would i need?

For those of you who dont know its a 1.4 with ats cups. I know most of you will probably say dont bother, buy a gti, but im not going to so any other suggestions appreciated!

Your best bet is 16valve brakes. Should be a straight swop but not sure as yours is a 1.4!
But are you sure? Does that weany 1.4 warrant such powerful brakes?

i recon so, would be nice for it to do something quickly so if it isnt go, why not stop!

Would 16valve breaks go on there? doesnt the fitment have something to do with the stud fitment of the wheels? mine is a 4 stud and the gtis are a 5 arnt they. Really proving how technically minded i am now arnt i!

Thats the bit I cant help you with I'm sorry Phil.

Oh yes of course the discs are drilled for the wheel studs! Which would mean swapping the complete hub.
I assume you are going second hand and getting parts from a scrappy?
I will have to leave this for someone with better knowledge!

I was informed (when I had a 1.8driver solid discs) that you can fit vented discs from an abs model 4 stud to the standard caliper as long as you use the narrow? pad's... never got round to it my self but this was from a vw specialist friend of mine as he knew somebody that did it!! Might be worth speaking to a vdub part's place to check detail's...
Another choice you have is to fit grooved discs..... euro do some ate power discs for the solid disc motor's which is what I fitted to my driver with some ate pad's with braided hoses , cost me about £130 all in and it certainly did improve braking..
