poor excuss to show piccies of my car
« on: 22 September 2006, 23:46 »

Apart from the traditional mechanics engine bay (it works, I can see what I need to get to, so leave it alone)
Please note my very proud posistion of the brake servo/mastercylinder... for those who said it can't be done   Does it work, hell yeah!!!!!!  Standard disc/drum setup!
The car looks about 3,000,000 feet off the ground, because, after nearly a year of it looking well mean slamed to the floor, my brain took over my heart and sacrficed the good looks for handling and back comfort.
The car is full of junk, but I do have a photo album full of the car when I got it, going through the various stages of a full bare metal restoration,  yes it was worth it, no getting the paint done by a mate is not the way forward. (madison blue by the way, with the red flip)

Er what else. urm tilt & slide sunroof, a complete to**er to fit, as the gap in the runners is not quite thick enough to take the tilt mechanism.

G60 wheels (I can't be trusted with nice alloys, i'll only phuq them up, and these look great)

Lots of little thing that I can't remember at the moment.

Oh yeah, a nice juicy CAT1 alarm, imbolizer and Cat3 physical protection, + brick bulit garage & dog (not built of bricks, but bones and fur)  Dunno why I added that bit.

Thank you for reading/looking at my pride and Joy... gotta go fix the throttle linkage...again!!! argh!!!!!!

Cheers

Cheers for the kind words.

After going for a blat yesterday I am seriously considering lowering it, just a little more and maybe slightly stiffer roll bars.  See the kerb it's parked on, the front splitter was lower, very cool looking, but even cat eyes presented a problem  LOL

Arghhhhh! it's on going this VW stuff, will my car ever ever be done?, maybe in 20 years it will have a water burning wibble engine with 6000bhp and hover drive, but it'll still look likt a MK1 !?!?

........er lovely thought about the VR, but no ta, I like my noisey slow un-eurocap rated motor.

yes it has a private plate, the car is a '81, but good piont, I think I have some small lights kicking about somewhere, and when I get the paint re-done, maybe i'll mod the back end to suit.

Cheers

now that is what I like to see more black mk1 golfs  lovely car man. I would be very interested to know how you managed to get the brake servo and cylinder on the right hand side, something I would love to do to my other cab to clear the engine bay area up.

HI
Moving the servo is not for the faint hearted,
Lots of metal cutting, fabrication, it took over 96 hours, and that was a bare shell, before it went to the bodyshop.
You have to make things like a pedal box, move the throttle cable, mod the throttle pedal, move and mod the clutch pedal/bulkhead,
Huge headache!  But so worth it, you still have to push faily hard (compared to a moden motor)
but it really STOPS.
Cheers
