Newbie question

Hi,

Just bought my used GTI yesterday, so decided to load 6 CD's in the dash for my drive to work this morning.

When loading my 1st CD, it just kept spinning the CD and didn't actually load the CD. It won't now play the CD. I pressed the eject button and eventually it just says Error, Service on the screen. I held down the eject button for 3 seconds, and it says ejecting all CD's, but again this just comes back with Error, Service!
I also can't load anymore CD's! Bit frustrating on only my 2nd day of owning the car.
So I phoned up my local dealer (not where I bought the car tho) and asked what needed to be done. They asked if it was an original CD or a copy, and its a copy and I was told that VW don't recommend this, and I may have invalidated my warranty by doing this and have to pay for the new CD player. Are they having a laugh or what?
Is there anyway of ejecting this CD now?
Surely some of you have put in copied CD's, and maybe got them stuck in the player?
Any suggestions?

Sounds like a crock to me.  In this day and age of downloading from iTunes and MSNMusic you are EXPECTED to backup your tracks on CD - even DRM music allows you to do this.  So saying a written CD will invalidate your warranty is laughable really.  And saying that a written CD would damage the eject mechanism is also laughable.  The very most you should expect is it wouldn't find the tracks at the edge or it jumps.  I'm afraid I can't help you with a mechanical eject mechanism so suggest you get back onto the dealer and ask him to get serious

My one plays copies all the time with no problems.

Take car back to a different dealer and don't even mention that the disc is a copy!
