Couple of newbie questions on GTI T erm HELP :-)

Firstly hi all, im new to the hole VW scene i come from crx vtec to civic vti to integra type-r then to a written off scooby wrx [:$] to finally this W plate 1.8 GTI T with an engine code AGU.  So i bought the car knowing it was lovely to drive with all mod cons but not enough umff so i budgeted enough so that i could get it remapped.

Question is where do i get it done the are so many companies and so many agents my head is spinning.  I have read various posts but cant really get a definative answer im in the north of England, Blackpool to be precise and want as much bang per buck as i can get. ideally at least 200hp but i dont want to go through major mods maybe air filter etc but not much else.  Dub sport in wigan have said they will REVO it to 190 bhp maybe close to 200 with a panel filter but to be honest i was hoping for a tickle more ie 200 without filter 210 with (i know its petty but i really want those magical figures 200hp :-) ) .  Obviously 190 will surfice if thats all that is possible. Is there a genuine decent performance difference in say the old 0-60 front etc or quarter mile times is probably a good marker although i've never been to one??

Also second less important question i've got it sat on 18" A8 wheels can you advise on a decent set of springs to drop it on not to low about 35-40mm and if anyone thats done this could advise what are the negatives if any.

Final Cheeky question anyone got a remapped/Chipped Golf in my area let me know i would really like to meet up for half an hour just to see if its worth it.

No need to see one in action, my friend, will be the best £400ish you'll ever spend on it.  I'd take rolling road bhp figures with a pinch of salt, though.  One RR's 210 bhp is another RR's 190 bhp etc!!!

I'd def consider a green panel filter (non-oil, unlike the K & N's) & an exhaust if you can stretch to it.  My car was done at Jabbasport of Peterborough, but lots of peeps will recommend the Revo (will be a lot closer, too!).

I'd say the car will probably hit 60 in the 6.5 secs mark (about 2 seconds off the standard time).  I pulled away from a standard Civic Type R the other day, quite easily.

ps Re: the springs/handling: You can't go wrong with some -30mm Eibach springs - They're next on my shopping list!  Also consider uprating the anti-roll bars, as these will improve the handling no end! (Also on shopping list)

Ok cool so it does make a big difference actually almost bought a civic type-r so that would please me if its quicker.  If you got yours done by jabba is there any real difference? do they squeeze more out? should i go to them? Can i get the exhaust fitted at a later date? and how much was your exhaust and filter? also how much are anti roll bar thingys fitted mind cause i am a pleb? Do you have the newer engine to me is that why you managed 202bhp? sorry for the 1 million questions im a newbie haha

hi having just had my gti remaped ican say it was wurth it
i was advised to fit exhaust and uprated down pipe and cda air box plus forge valve
 as this can effect remap if fitted later.i have also fitted eibach springs and shockers
now just want some 18"alloys to finsh her of.

Im about to get mine done soon.  I was just planning a panel filter (I went pipercross.  Dunno if this was a good idea or not?  but it RR'd with 156 BHP with the filter, on a AGU).

Anyway, I was just gonna do a cat-back exhaust (Miltek) then remap.  But that would struggle to get the 200 BHP I was also looking for.  Managed to track down a full Miltek system with sports cat for £400 though, and went for that.

So I then spoke to the guys at Star Performance, who said I might just break the 200 with a remap at that, but if I fitted the K03s turbo (From an AGU???)  I could get closer to 230-240 BHP after the remap.  So I decided I'm gonna wait until a 03s shows up then get the remap.

At the end of the day, its up to you, and how much you can afford.  Because of the turbo (I beleive) in the AGU we struggle to get the 200 BHP.  Hence why the revo remap only gives us 190 BHP to the 212 BHP on newer cars.  I certainly don't wanna have to spend another £500 remapping once I fit the bigger turbo, so I'm waiting.

If your wanting to definatly break the 200, then try to source a k03s turbo first, then remap.  If your only wanting to get there, then remap and exhaust may do it
