Changing Strut top mounts and ball joints
« on: 19 September 2006, 15:09 »
Hey I need some advice on how to change my strut top mounts.
I've heard you can do them with a hammer and a chisel as I don't have the tool.  If any1 could explain this it would be much aprreciated!

Also I'm gonna change my ball joints at the same time as there a fair bit of forward and backward play coming from them.  What other parts are worth changing while im at it?

cheers

I managed with a pair of circlip pliers. Id recomend getting the tool though as it makes life so much easier.

check the wishbone bushes and the arb link bushes as well.
If the wishbone bushes are split, you can buy whole new wishbones with new bushes in
from www.vwspares.co.uk

Yes bought some from there, quality fine. Easy to change with a good pry bar to pursuade the old ones off!
