service light

hello all
i recently got my mk4 serviced but through a family friend (not a VAG dealer!). even though the oil is golden the computer hasnt been reset to show it. its now telling me i have 400 miles left til next service. does any body know if i can reset it myself or if you know anyone who can? im in Enfield, North London.  ;D

Try this....

Button A=r/h
Button B=l/h

OIL- oil service.
Press and hold button A
switch ign ON
release button A
the letters"oil" will appear in the trip display
turn button B to the right untill "----" is displayed

INSP-inspection service.
Press and hold button A
switch ign ON
release button A
press and release button A
the letters "insp" will appear in the trip display
turn button B to the right untill "----" is displayed
If required, clear the "oil" indicator from the display as above.

hello mate, sounds like it could be the solution BUT theres a problem. i lack brainpower!!! i dont understand what you mean by left hand side and right (button A and B) which ones are these?

There is two "buttons" 'tween the speedo and the rev counter. They are the ones for the clock adjustment and speedo trip reset.

What year and what happened?.
Some cars may require a scan tool to reset  :'(.

well literally.... nothing. although it did reset my trip meter! (lol) i think that method works for just slightly older models to mine. its a GT TDI 115. 2000 W-reg.

Ahh... try this....

Service
Press and hold button A
switch ign ON
the word service will appear in the trip display
release button A
turn button B to the right to reset the display.
