mmm.... tricky

usually piston ring on one of the pistons has gone but doesn't sound like it. Just one other thing, make sure that the compression is 160psi and not just falling away dramatically on any particular cylinder which indicates a piston ring failure.

also make sure your knock sensor is working correctly, if the ignition is retarded too much it will cause a missfire.

do you know what engine code you have? and also is it a petrold ordiesel?

hope this helps

blow off valves have been known to cause problems!!, but i dont think thats it, get em to change coil packs again as this is a constant on going problem on mk 4 1.8 t's, there should be some kind off error codes being shown on the vagcom?????????

 ???

Hi, I have a MK4 GTI Turbo Year 2000 Engine code AGU, I have a similar if but intermittant problem, major misfires, but this only happens intermitantly, 3 times in a week, Ive been to VW dealers 3 times and had 3 computers looking for a fault, none found, I have changed the fuel filter as they suggested and it is stall causing a problem, im at my wits end. Any suggestions ?
