The GT TDI was a 110BHP with a 6speed box, and is far more tuneable than the poxy 1.6 16v. AND will have you the wrong side of 100 at 1500rpm in 6th.

If its the 90BHP model then it'll be the non turbo jobber and in my opinion the worst of the diesel bunch, as it's quite knocky and lack lustre.

Not too sure myself, but if you have a look on clubpolo and clublupo they may be able to tell you as the engine is used in the older Polo GTI and the Lupo GTI.

Good luck

there were two types of diesel TDI and SDI; SDI is the non-turbo job and should be avoided at all costs!

the 90, 100, and 110 all came with 5 speed boxes.  it was the later PD engines introduced in circa 2001 that had the 6 speed boxes and came in 115, 130 and 150. i think there was also a 100 option but not sure  :undecided:

if it was my chioce id go for the 90bhp diesel option, make sure it is the turbo version mind! the 1.6 is pretty useless as the early ones were only 8V jobs and drank petrol like it was going out of fashion

IIRC, there isn't a Mk4 16v lump in the range - Could be wrong, though.

2.0 8v's are a little sluggish, so the 1.6.....???

If it were me, I'd deffo be looking at the derv out of the 2, as that extra torque from the turbo will be a hell of a lot more fun.

You've really got to drive them both though, fella.
