Wind Noise Through Doors
« on: 15 September 2006, 20:02 »
Has anyone else had a problem with wind noise / wind ingress through the top of the drivers and passenger doors?

There is a whistling of wind on my new GTI and have even taken the stealer out and he says its not right.  He's getting me another GTI to drive on Monday to see if its a build problem or if I'm just being picky!

Its not just road noise or wind hitting the car, but its wind entering and you can hear and feel it.

Hope you can all help me out with comments before i go back to the stealer next week.

Thanks.

CHRIS

This is most definitely a fault.

I'd go with a fault as well, you can hear the wind for sure but no way should you be able to FEEL it. Is it brand new or are you a second owner, I'm thinking possible mild shunt, if it's not brand spanking I'd give it a good going over but it sounds like your man seems to agree with you so with luck you'll get it sorted through them.

It's brand spanking new so we'll see what the stealer comes up with, thanks for comments.

Seems strange that he suggests driving another car when yours obviously can't be right. Can't see what he hopes to achieve. I know of someone who has just taken delivery of a new 5 door and has the same problem. That said he is called Chris .Hope you are not cracking on that this car is yours when really is your girlfriends and you drive a HONDA. COME ON OWN UP.

GARRY.

Yes, still got 17"s but no wind noise, Must have been another from the options list i couldn't afford.

Hope you get it sorted. Was the stealer making good noises.

I took mine back after a couple of months thinking engine was a little noisy and he was

adamant they were all like that but made a note on computer in case it developed

further. Its not good cos it starts to put you on a downer when you should be enjoying

everything thats good about your red ( basic colour) GTI.

Just a thought and forgive me for being Mr obvious but I sometimes get the feeling of a breeze if the air vent on the front drivers side is pointing towards the window and the Aircon, sorry climate whatever, kicks in I know it sounds silly and feel free to tell me to S*d off but have you turned the climate off and see if you still get the feeling of wind??

I know it sounds silly but the climate control kicked in today as I was going along and I could here the wind and then feel it and my mind jumped to this thread.

Oh and I get to "share" mine with my Missus as well, at least she calls it sharing, I call it the weekend as well!!
