Drill airbox
Full Stainless Exhaust
Cam
2 Litre bottom end
Port and polish head if you have and £ left !
Strip out excess weight if you can live with it.

If you leave out the cam and headwork you will have enough to get a decent suspension set up which would help with acceleration, braking and cornering.
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

Put the 2litre 16v ABF unit from a mk3 into it (if it's a valver). You can get them fairly cheap and fit straight in other than being about 1cm taller for the larger displacement, which is solved by a light tap to the frame on the under side of the bonnet! I used to have a mk2 with this engine in and I can tell youi it is far far quicker off the mark and up till about 80mph than a VR6, i know this 'cause I now have a VR6! I wish I could have that car back sometimes , but the VR6 is a very good all round car too, and quite quick 'straight out of the tin'!

Do those chips off ebay actuallyworka nd what benifits do they provide? £20 for a chip just sounds too cheap to me!

you forgot the four branch manifold

those ebay chips (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Golf-Jetta-MK2-Cabriolet-Chip-Digifant-8V-GTI-6HP_W0QQitemZ320025560543QQihZ011QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) work well according to other forum members. they get rid of "digilag" which is the annoying wait you get when you initially put your foot down. obviously these only suit the mk2 GTI 8v with PB engine code (Digifant 2).

I don't think a semi will give the same results

What is the most power and speed you can get for a grand then do you think? My friend is thinking of a GTI but is a speed freak so wants to know lol.

My guess for a 16v is 0-60 in 6.6, maybe 150bhp?

150BHP wouldn't be too hard i don't think.

Exhaust, cam and filter should practically see you there.
