Possibly buying a mk3
« on: 10 September 2006, 21:12 »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My last car was a Polo mk3 Squareback but i decided to sell and now I am driving a mk3 Golf 1.4 arround to see if I like it. I have to say I love driving it around, allthough the handling is shocking but if I am to buy a mk3 then i'd make sure I upgrade the springs and shocks.

My last car was lowered 40mm on stiffened shock absorbers and i thought that handles far better than my current Golf. I used to have a thing for mk1 and mk2 golfs but I have really come to love the look of the mk3.

What sort of price would I be looking at to get a mk3 lowered 60mm on some stiff shockers? I would like a hard ride (the opposite to the current setup)

The car in question is a 3 door white mk3 1.4 cl. it has full service history with 77,000 on the clock. There are rust patches on the two front panels and around the rear clusters. I have been given a good quote to remove all of this.

The price for the car is 600 pounds, not including the rust removal and spraying.

Is this a good deal?

Thanks, Joe

Sounds a good price to me, especially with FSH.

A chap on here sells a decent kit for around 200quid.

If you want coilovers you will be looking at 300+
