Having not owned a Vw Golf for more than a year ive just been out and bought a Mk3 16 V R reg.
Its a black 5 door in mint condition and done 100 k miles.
The only thing im concerned about, is that it sounds very throaty as if its got a big bore exhaust but its a standard one.
Ive been into the local exhaust center thinking it could be blowing from the center box as it sounds throaty from the rear but theres no holes in the exhaust any where.
It does have a cone air filter on it ( k&n i think ) but im sure thats not causing it.
Do the 16 v'rs sound throaty or can anyone put a finger on the prob please.
