lowering suspension...help and advice please

I am changing the suspension on my mk3 gti and have a couple or question's....I have front and rear sachs shocker's to fit and want to level the car a bit...the rear is all ready low enough (looks about 30mm lower than the front) and i am wondering if I fit just the front lowering springs will this effect the ride (they are sachs 35mm lowering spring's) and make it handle even worse???

I had the same thoughts about my 16v gti (1995), as it does look like the rear is a lot lower than the front.

However, I did some looking around and got talking to a guy on a different forum, and he seemed to know his stuff. What he said is that the Golf is already pretty level, but just looks lower at the back due to different shaped arches (the back being oval, the front more round). After sitting and looking at the car for about 10 minutes, I decided this was true.

I'm still not sure about what suspension to get, although he seemed to think Weitec 60/40 cup kit would do the job, but I'm pretty convinced 40mm lower at the back and the wheel would be in the boot 

So now I'm really confused - any ideas from people who've lowered before would be good to know

im runnig 60mm all round, the rears are adjustable from 30mm to 80mm.  i can get these full suspension kits for £185 posted, thats 4 springs and 4 uprated, shortened and tuv approved dampers.  you can pick what mm you want on the front either 40mm or 60mm but the front are not adjustable. the quality is great the ride qulaity is good and for the money i guarantee any buyer would not be disappointed, i couldnt believe it when mine arrived and i fitted them.  i can remember paying around £100 for 60mm springs alone the last time i lowered a car and now for an extra £80 you can get a full kit. if anyone is interested in a set of these, then pm me and we can sort something out, i have a paypal account so i can be trusted plus Dizzie has been to my house and knows im a genuine guy.

sorry there was apoint to my post....

if you lower the car 40mm all round the car will be lower on the back so the potions are

rear 40mm and front 60mm or

rear 30mm-35mm and the front 40mm  there will be a bit of unlevelness but hardly noticeable.

i can sort you out with a kit for any of the above.

I had mine lowered on Eibach Pro Springs, made the ride quality better and wasn't too harsh. Was a nice balanced feel and ride really. Do intend to up rate the shocks at some point also,  but picking up what dovey said, the rear on mine has defiantly dropped more than the front. I can just get my finger between the bottom of the arch and the top of the tyre, but at the front you can get a good 2 1/2 fingers between them which is now driving me mad!  Front would need another 20mm to drop I would say.. *see pic for an idea of the drop*

What's weird is the front is stiff! when you try bounce it down, and the rear you can move.. so whether it's my shocks shot at the rear i don't know? but they were only replaced a year ago.. but either way.. my rear has dropped more, just gotta find a solution to get the front down another 20mm then I'll be happy.
