yeah it's all in the colour, they think because it's a girly purple met that they will sell it to a girl for alot more than its worth(you know what some girls are like they see a pretty colour and it's "can i have it pleeeaaaassee") no offence girls but you know what i'm talkin about
it's just a shame that these shamless car dealers are happy to sting people (how do they sleep at night, no dont tell me, horlicks. lol

There's nothing girly about purple metallic!

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

Lets not forget that this thread was started in january of last year, so the price of the car would have been higher.

Yeah and mine, although the missus insists it's purple

You're not wrong there.

About 18 months ago I went to look at a '90H Mk2 GTI 8v 3dr that was for sale at a garage nearby. As the asking price was initially £1995 and had slowly come down to £1500 I reasoned that it must be quite a tidy example at that price.

Tidy? :undecided:

From a distance:  Up close

As I expected I got all the usual garb from the trader, which I took with a pinch of salt. To cut a long story short it was:

Red(fading)
Had a nasty dent in the passenger side wing
Was filthy inside
Had unusually heavy steering(which he said was due to the 15" alloys :undecided: I had 16"s on my previous Mk2 and steering was no where near as heavy).
Had an extremely heavy clutch(verging on the impossible) which he said was a racing clutch
Not running very well, generally quick but a bit of a dog, misfiring, smoky exhaust etc(which he said he'd get sorted....yeah right).
Had No service history.
Reading nearly 160k.

After weighing up the ahem....pro's(1 years MOT) and con's, deducting to take into account what needed putting right, I made him what I thought was a reasonable offer of £1200(if i remember rightly).

He refused it out of hand, rambling on about how much he'd spent on getting the head done ,blah, blah, blah, and that I was buying a quality piece of German engineering etc.

So I walked away, and several weeks later it was being advertised at £1200, then £1100, then £950.
I hope he was kicking himself at refusing my offer

Don't get me wrong I love the quality of VW's but there are rough, badly maintained examples about and this was one of them
