Turbo problem (We think).

Can anyone help me and my GF she has a Golf GTI (http://www.topspeed.com/IMG/cache-270x203/golfgti25th01-270x203.jpg) See picture in brackets for what "mark" this is...  We think the model she has is a "special edition" It has leather recardo seats and a different kit to the normal "GTI" we have seen also it has different alloys! Its a "W" Reg! Right this is the problem, When she starts the car up everything seems fine but when she pulls away it either "bunny" hops or it feels like it stutters )-:

This also happens at faster speeds and normally just goes on, and on! It also we not go past the 80mph mark (Have you ever heard of a GTI not being able to do this).

We have been told it could be the "turbo" or "Air max / Filter" also been told it could be "air mass sensor" or "MAF" Can anyone shed some light on this and give us some advice what the problem could be and maybe the cost.  And maybe someone who could help in the Hampshire area.

Sounds like a MAF (mass air flow) sensor problem to me. they are around £70.00 at the VW dealers. My car used to hesitate really badly when trying to pull away at low speeds and felt like it was going to stall.

Definately worth checking the MAF out I would say.

Mines done the same in the past and id say maf aswell, only get an original bosch one though.

Is it wearing Nike!!!! It won't be a special edition on a 'W' reg and I would suggest a dodgy MAF too, £70 exchange at the dealers
