Performance chips - do they really work?
« on: 06 September 2006, 21:54 »
OK firstly I am very dubious of the difference one of these will make. is this the usual Ebay rubbishy resistor that causes bore-wash through over-fueling? or is this one different and actually worthwhile?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9889&item=170018985903

seen a couple of different sellers offering these for around the same price. anyone had any experience of these?

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Not acording to the write up. In my opinion yes they work and are what they say they are. All the seller will have done is copied the settings from a well know chip company like superchips and reproduced them. Its really very simple. I had a friend who did the same with a 386 computer and a little chip box and software. Dont expect massive gains but at the end of the day its only £22. For that money id be very happy for a little increase and smoother power delivery with less digi lag.

In the Mk2 Maintainence Section there is a way to Tune a Mk2 8v Digi and by doing significantly reduce Digi lag

I bought one and was well impressed! no noticable power increase as such but the digilag was long gone!

I keep meaning to give one of these a go but othr bits keep falling off or breaking on the damn car so I never have the money for one!

As it;s now set up and running the best it ever has with no DIgilag already I wonder if one of these will really perk it up even more!
