brake/accelerator override
« on: 01 January 2004, 20:47 »
hi all,

I occasionally take my golf racing and in order to stop the car getting too unsettled under braking I do heel toe gear changes, however this was easy enough in my old car with a cable from the pedal to the valve but in my golf the ECU prevents me from blipping the throttle because when the brake is pushed the throttle is killed automatically.

Does anyone know how to get round this?

cheers

i assume youve got 'drive by wire' controls on your new mk4 golf, i reckon youd need some kind of remap software to allow the ecu to do this function!!!!, i dont think 'vagcom' or any relevant software will cure this!!!, either have to learn a different driving technic or get some one to alter ecu parameters etc, i think you could either get program altered to your requirements or alter brake light switch position (near pedal) which will in turn send a signal to ecu not to allow throttle to work whilst brake on, weird i know but htis sounds the case, have a nosey you mat have to put a switch in the signal wire to the ecu when you are 'racing' to avoid this problem!!!!

thanks for the responose kniterider, i was thinking abou tthis and i guess i could find out what voltage "0" brake is, and send that to the ecu. that way the brake lights would still work but the ecu would constantly think that the brake is off. i'll have a butchers anyway
