New Scirroco

just seen the front page of one of the Auto express mags at work and its got a bright green vw labelled the new scirroco, looks sweet.

Anyone know anything?

a new 'rocco / 'raddo has been in concept stages for a while.. seems now though they've renamed it the "Iroc" (im sure that's copywright infringement, unless VAG own chevrolet now too)

not sure if it'll ever go beyond being a concept model.. would be nice.

the one in auto express and autocar is different from the concept and is due for relaese in 2008 apparently.

It was in the independant last week to be launched in 2008, using the TSi engine running 210bhp

It seems to be that newer cars are beginning to look the same as each other...

Saying that older cars esp when I look at my next door neighbours Pug 205 GTi I can see that ideas were copied and swapped. I love it when I see old cars on the road its refreshing from all the current ones.

Individuality is something I like to see and when I see production cars coming off the line with already tuned engines as standard and bigger alloys its easy to see that something as special as a new GTi will always be a little less magical than its original.

IROC is a US based racing series, I believe that GM are allowed to use IROC (International Race Of Champions) under license from the series promotors, and not the other way round.. To the uninitiated, Chevy did a performance version of the Camaro, called the Camaro IROC-Z  (Give me a Z28 anyday!)  Obviousley the new VW is intended for the US market!  Oh yeah, ever wondered about that line in the Wheatus, teenage dirt bag song.. "he drives an IROC" now you know!

I always wondered what he sung I always thought it was

"He drives and I rock!" Which never made sense but I just sang that (feel like a dim)

Better than going "I got shoes they're made of plywood!" where it should be "I got chills they're multiplyin"
