That review in autocar is sh@$!!!  Really vague and useless, sounds like they couldn't be bothered - infact, did they actually drive the car?  Cause i can't see any more pictures on there other than the ones VW released.  Anyway, with respect to the ride height, it clearly states in the price list brochure thingy for the golf that the sport, gt, gti and gti edition 30 have suspension lowered by approx. 15mm and the R32 by approx. 20mm so i don't see why autocar have decided that the edition 30 gti has a lowered ride height compared to the normal gti.

I'm sure there are no 30ths in the UK so they could not have tested it.

How the hell did you find that!

It looks great, esp in black. The wheels also look alot better than I expected.

The red one is 21.315,- GBP and the blck one is 23.864,- GBP

Apparently, mine has already been built, with arrival at dealer (Specialist Cars Aberdeen) expected in early to mid February....just in time for March 1st delivery

Salesman just confirmed that to me, although he couldn't locate the build week at the time

imo, looking at the link showing real pics of an edition 30, dont those pescaro wheels look absolute pap!!!!, SHOULD BE BLACK ADVERTISED VW!!!!, black monza II would of been a better choice, and looking at the other pictures of inside the car, red tailored floor matts, red cotton on steering wheel and gear stick gaitor, the back end of the car isnt very apealing either compared to current version. it seems alot of extra dosh apart from a 30 hp inprovement for an extra £2500 on basic price , seems abit of a rip off to me. they could of and should of done better for a special edition

I agree Phil and that's why i decided to stick with my GTi order. Most of the price is simply the prestige of a VW special edition, and if it doesn't live up to the hype with the automotive press the resale values will quickly fall into line with the standard GTi, or at least significatly less than the premium they are charging over the standard car.
